Shepard Park

Mi destino hoy fue Shepard Park. Hay un semáforo en US 1 y SW Ocean Boulevard en la parte inferior del Roosevelt Bridge. Gire hacia el St. Lucie River y verá el parque a su izquierda. La foto de arriba fue tomada del Frazier River Bridge en US1. Hay un agradable paseo marítimo con vistas al río St. Lucie con muchos veleros y también varios árboles de mango que darán fruto este verano.

Al mirar a través de Frazier Creek mientras estaba en Shepard Park, decidí explorar esa zona. Qué sorpresa tan encantadora. El tesoro escondido espera al intrépido ciclista más allá de las calles principales. Tomé la carretera girando hacia el oeste muy cerca del puente en Frazier Creek. No hay autos en las carreteras, gente amable con perros y dos pequeños parques con bancos a lo largo del paseo marítimo. Salí en SW Halpatiokee y SW Palm City Road, detrás de Publix Market.

Entonces encontré una escena desafortunada. Alguien había aparcado una gran camioneta larga a lo largo de la calle y en la acera, dejando una acera extremadamente estrecha. Un ciego estaba siendo guiado por su perro a lo largo del pequeño espacio que quedaba para caminar. El hombre gritó que estaba allí y yo le respondí que lo había visto, que había un camión estacionado en la acera y que por eso su perro lo estaba guiando cuidadosamente hacia un lado. Miré para asegurarme de que logró pasar sin problemas.

Shepard Park

My destination today was Shepard Park, found by going west at the traffic light at US1 and SW Ocean Boulevard at the bottom of the Roosevelt Bridge. The park will be on your left. The photograph above was taken standing on the Frazier River Bridge on US1. There is a nice boardwalk overlooking the St. Lucie River with lots of sailboats and also several mango trees that will bear fruit this summer.

Looking across Frazier Creek while at Shepard Park, I decided to explore that area next. What a delightful surprise. Hidden treasure awaits the intrepid bicyclist beyond the busy thoroughfares. I took the road turning west very close to the bridge at Frazier Creek. I rode along the quiet streets, exiting at SW Halpatiokee and SW Palm City Road, behind Publix Market. No cars on the roads, friendly people with dogs, and two tiny parks with benches along the waterfront.

I then came across an unfortunate scene. Someone had parked a huge long truck along the roadway and onto the sidewalk, leaving a slither of the sidewalk. A blind man was being led by his dog along the very small space left to walk. The man yelled out that he was there and I responded that I saw him, that there was a truck parked on the sidewalk and that was why his dog was leading him carefully to the side. I watched to make sure he made it through safely.
