Casa Terrace

Casa Terrace Neighborhood – May 2019

It’s the little things I notice when riding my bicycle through Casa Terrace that brings a smile to my face. A street called Parakeet Lane, a picket fence, unusual mailboxes, open porches, and magnificent trees. The speed limit seems to be 25 mph throughout the neighborhood. Riding up and down all the streets in this area won’t take very long, but if you like quiet nooks off main highways you might enjoy this sweet neighborhood and will probably find it worth a visit.  Continue reading “Casa Terrace”

20 Dolphins Playing

This morning on a bicycle ride over the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Martin County, Florida, I stopped to watch numerous dolphins playing in the St. Lucie River. There were a few fortunate people out this morning just after 7:00 am and we were all in awe of these magnificent creatures. The general consensus was that there were about twenty of them. Wetlands Trail at Justin Wilson Memorial Park

Justin Wilson Memorial Park has a wetlands trail that many people are not aware of.  The trailhead sign is tucked away behind Pavilion E near the tennis courts.  Be sure to bring your binoculars. I saw two osprey families in their nests at the park. If you visit early in the morning you will see lots of bunny rabbits which your kids might enjoy watching, however, the water lilies might not be open yet which are in bloom and beautiful to see. The park will seem different according to the time of day you visit. Continue reading “Wetlands Trail at Justin Wilson Memorial Park”

Paradise Hiding Behind Publix

Sandwiched between the Publix Supermarket in Downtown Stuart and the St. Lucie River is a peaceful neighborhood tucked away from the hustle and bustle of busy highways. I don’t know what they call this area but it’s perfect for a quiet weekend bike ride. You will see people out for a stroll with their dogs and everyone seems friendly. This is not a shortcut to anywhere else so you won’t see cars whizzing past. The only speed limit sign I saw posted was for 25 mph.  Continue reading “Paradise Hiding Behind Publix”

Bicycle Loop Monterey-Willougby-Indian-Kanner

Starting at WaWa on the corner of the intersection of Monterey and Kanner Highway I rode towards SE Willoughby Boulevard on a Saturday morning in May. This busy Monterey Road section does not have a bicycle path but has a sidewalk on both sides of the street.  Continue reading “Bicycle Loop Monterey-Willougby-Indian-Kanner”

Palm City 5-mile Bike Loop

This was a pleasant 5-mile ride except for the Mapp Road portion. However, I filmed a fetching little water scene by stepping off the sidewalk and riding through a grassy area, although I picked up some weeds without realizing it. Perhaps SW Cornell Ave, east of Mapp Road, could be an alternate choice for Mapp.  Continue reading “Palm City 5-mile Bike Loop”
